I think some of my greatest memories of the last ten years surround my birthday. I had gone to Joe’s in late 1980 on my birthday. I loved the Stone Crabs and was so enchanted with the waiters and the bustling when they were serving Stone Crabs on those trays and big tables. I made a deal with my husband: since my birthday was in November, it would be a regular event to drive me from Orlando or fly me down to Miami to go to Joe’s for my birthday. He promised to do so every year and for over ten years I have had my birthday dinner there come what may. I even took a few friends with us to the celebration and they fell in love with Joe’s. Then, in my Chicago Home, I was thrilled to find Joe’s had a Seafood house there where I could get my stone crabs. Then in Vegas, which I went to four times a year for meetings, I had Stone Crabs as well. I had always thought they were connected but I might be wrong. However, I still go to Joe’s in Miami and I will always remember my group betting me I couldn’t eat four jumbo ones on my 40th. Guess what, I ate five jumbos that day. Don’t ever bet a woman who loves stone crabs that she can’t eat those jumbos. Great restaurant, great waiters, and great memories. I have even ordered them.
